Now that you own a Xiaomi Mi4 or Mi3 with android 4.4 running on it, but you think there’s a need to use the stock android 5.1.1. Well, no need to search further, in this post I am going to show and demonstrate how you can easily install the Android 5.1.1 OS on Mi3 & Mi4 devices.
In case you are new to this process of installing ROM on your device and doesn’t really know what stock android means, let me quickly explain that,
Stock Android means Android system without modification, no bloatware, no pre-installed apps. The ROM come just with the Google applications and no other external applications are incorporated on the ROM. Stock Android comes with smartphones like the Google Nexus One, Nexus S, and so on. Presently the Stock Android 5.1.1 is accessible for the Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi3 smartphones and all credit goes to Mi forum member Ivan, who ported the stock Android 5.1.1 for the Xiaomi gadgets. The ROM has all the most recent elements of Lollipop and works exceptionally smooth.
Now let’s get to the main reason for the post,
Note: in order for you to successfully install this ROM on your device you will need to root you device with TWRP recovery. After then, you can now take the full backup of your phone, also note that this tutorial is only for xiaomi Mi4 and Mi3 phones only, don’t try it on other versions.
How To Flash & Install Stock Android 5.1.1 on Xiaomi MI4 &MI3
Step 1. Just like i said, in the previous line, you need a phone that is rooted with TWRP recovery.
Step 2. Once you have made sure of that, then Download the Stock Android 5.1.1 ROM zip file here and save it on your desktop. You will not need to download the Google Apps package, since this ROM is bundled with latest google Apps.
Step 3. Once downloaded, now move the ROM file to your device’s SD card, be sure not to keep it inside any folder, should be on your root folder.
Step 4. Now, boot your phone into recovery mode. Switch it off and press down the Volume Up+Power button till the logo appears on the screen.
Step 5. Now you should be in TWRP recovery mode, Now click on Wipe Data to clear all data. Be sure not to click on format data in Advanced Option.
Step 6. Once you do this, then go back to the main page, then pick the installation zip then flash the Stock Android 5.1.1 ROM.
Step 7. After the installation is complete, now select Reboot System Now >> Yes.
Wholla!, you Xiaomi Mi4 and Mi3 should start running on the Stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
